Welcome
Members:
Congratulations to Randy Randrianasolo on achieving
a full-time contract position. Your Executive, on your behalf, wishes
him much success and happiness in his new appointment.
Your Executive,
following the appropriate Articles in our Constitution, ( Article VII,
7.1.5. and Article VIII, 8.1.8) met on August 27, 2008 and passed the
following Motions effective immediately:
1) Bob Blackwood would return as President
of Simcoe County Elementary Occasional Teachers for the school year
2008-2009.
2) Skip Reeves would be appointed as a
Vice-President for the school year 2008-2009 (from Executive-at-Large).
3) That at the General and Elections Meeting on May 14, 2009, there
will be an election for President for 2009-2010. Then in 2010, there
will be elections for all the Executive positions for a two
year term, as was previously the case for the Simcoe County Elementary
Occasional Teachers' Local.
The cell phone listed for Randy on the back of the 2008-2009 calendar/diary,
is now no longer in service.
Those S.C.E.O.T. members in an LTO position this school year are reminded
to inform the S.C.D.S.B. of any changes in their qualifications so as
to enable the members to paid at the appropriate placement on the salary
grid. All members are reminded to check that their pay is in keeping
with their QECO placement and to inform the S.C.D.S.B. of any discrepancies.
All retiree
members who are on the Supply List, and who teach during this school
year, are reminded to keep track of their days taught to avoid
possible pension complications.
Please
take the time to frequent this web site, as it will be one of our main
forms of communication throughout the school year. Feel free to send
e-mails regarding any issues or concerns to any of our Executive members
in their respective roles. Also, please feel free to send any suggestions
or input that might be of benefit to our members and our Local as a
whole... thank you.
Early Notice! There
will be a S.C.E.O.T. General Meeting, along with a Ratification
Meeting, on Thursday, October 9, 2008. (Time:
5 p.m. and place: ETFO office, 249 Saunders Road, Unit #3, Barrie).
A newsletter, along with your new 2008-2009 calendar-information
diary, will be mailed soon.
It
is important that you inform Employee Services of a change of
address. It will be imperative to have
a current address on file with Employee Services in the near future
if you wish to teach for the S.C.D.S.B. this coming school year! This
is important to you, as soon you will be notified how to complete your
required Criminal Check ON LINE if you wish to teach for the Simcoe
Board in 2008-2009.
Also,
as we are now in "Provincial Takeover",
it is important to notify James Points
at E.T.F.O. (1.888.838.3838) of any address change
so that any communications regarding the upcoming provincial negotiations
can be sent to your correct home address to keep you informed of developments.
